Movie Night at the Museum

Friday, July 27, 2018

Will Rogers is Kenesaw Clark, editor of a small-town newspaper, in “Life Begins at Forty.” The movie, released April 4, 1935 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, will be presented on “Movie Night at the Museum” 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 27. Admission is free for the movie showing in the Museum’s Theatre. Popcorn and drinks are also free. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Kenesaw’s life runs smooth, that is until he gives a job to a young man released from prison after serving time for a crime he claims he never committed. Then the editor comes under pressure from the town banker to dismiss the “jailbird.” When he refuses the banker forecloses on the paper, but Kenesaw opened a rival publication, operating an old hand press.

The movie got rave reviews as funny and the “star himself a delight.”
“Movie Nights” recognize the 100th anniversary of Will’s first movie, “Laughing Bill Hyde,” a silent picture, which opened in 1918.
